Privacy policy

The short version

We collect as little as we can. If you subscribe, we keep your email address to send you updates. Everything you enter into our tools stays in your browser. We don't sell or share personal information.

What we collect

• Your email address, if you subscribe. We also record which page you subscribed from, the date, and the country your connection came from, so we know which guides are useful.
• Anonymous usage statistics from Cloudflare Web Analytics: pages viewed, referring sites, country and device type. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you.
• Anything you send us by email, which we keep only as long as we need to reply.

What we don't collect

The build estimator and off-grid calculator run entirely in your browser. Your choices are stored in the page address so you can share or bookmark a setup; we don't receive them unless you choose to email them to us.

How we use it

To send the updates you asked for, to understand which pages help people, and to answer your messages. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe.

Where it's stored

The site and our subscriber list are hosted by Cloudflare, which may store data outside your country, including in the United States. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to the infrastructure it runs.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you at any time by emailing [email protected]. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with how we handle your information, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of the page.
